At the risk of stating the obvious, let me say this: Followers of Jesus Christ are people who actually follow Jesus.  Why is it necessary to state such an obvious truth?  Well, as John Mark Comer has said, “we have created a cultural milieu where you can be a Christian but not an apprentice of Jesus.”  Compare that to what Jesus said: If anyone serves me, he must follow me; (John 12:26)

The first competency of a follower of Jesus Christ is . . . FOLLOWING, which we will break down as

• Being WITH Jesus,

• Being LIKE Jesus, and

• Doing the things Jesus did.
