The ONE THING in Prayer

“Proclaiming the Gospel of God’s Kingdom is not the only thing we do, but it is the one thing that shapes everything we do.”

Pray through one of these passages each day,
asking God to empower you for the proclamation of the gospel.

The Lord’s Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.

Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians

Ephesians 3:17-19

that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

may have strength to comprehend with all the saints

what is the breadth (every tongue, tribe and nation)

and length (every generation, forever)

and height (we are seated with Christ in the heavenly places)

and depth, (the mystery and mission of the church)

and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge,

that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Prayer for Workers in the Harvest

Matthew 9:35-38

And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because

·      they were harassed (Spiritual forces attacking)

·      and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (No way out on their own)

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.”

Waiting on the Holy Spirit

Acts 1:4, 5, 8

And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
